In 1909, the first Women’s Day was observed across the United States. On 19 March 1911, International Women’s Day was honoured for the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.
Later it was decided that March 8 can be the globally accepted day to celebrate IWD.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2022 is “Gender Equality Today For a Sustainable Tomorrow”. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination.
The aim of international Women’s Day is not to celebrate woman’s success of a year but it is a reminder that men and women are equal and women have an identity of their own and that they have the freedom to choose for themselves and not according to social norms.
