Grafting is performed between two plants of closely related varieties. The plant of which the root system is to be taken is called stock and the other of which shoot system is to be used is known as scion.
Stock usually bears strong root system and Scion has desired variety of flowers for fruits, but weak a week root system. The success of grafting mostly depend upon the union of cambium of scion and stock which results in organic connection between them.
The curved surfaces should be held tightly by wrapping or like other method. The grafting operations should be done at proper time of the year. All shoots sprouting from the stock should be removed otherwise they will not permit the scion to grow.
